Citrix Remote-PC with HDX 3D Pro problems with double-hop and Teams

In a Remote-PC environment, we are experiencing issues related to a Citrix double-hop on a CVAD farm.

Since upgrading from Windows 10 to Windows 11, we have encountered a this issues:

  1. Teams, when started locally, closes and restarts automatically within a few seconds.
  2. A connection to the Shared Multi-OS Environment initiates but disconnects after 50-60 seconds.

These issues occur only when the user is logged in directly on the Remote-PC (Console Access). When accessing the Remote-PC via an HDX session, Teams functions normally, and the double-hop connection works without any issues.

The VDI is running Windows 11 24H2 for CAD software with VDA LTSR 2402 CU1, CWA 2502 CU2, HDX 3D Pro, and the latest Nvidia card/driver. The double-hop to a CVAD farm (Shared Multi-OS Environment) is used for base applications like Office, CRM, ERP, etc., running on Windows Server 2019/2022 with VDA LTSR 2402 CU1.

A closer analysis revealed that the issue is primarily caused by the VDA LTSR 2402 CU1 on Windows 11. Uninstalling the VDA on the Remote-PC resolves the issue immediately. Further testing with VDA version 2411 shows that the double-hop works as expected, and it’s likely that the upcoming LTSR 2402 CU2 will also resolve the issue.

However, the Teams issue persists. To address this, Citrix API hooks are required:

Registry Key: HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\CtxUvi

Value Name: UviProcessExcludes

Type: REG_SZ

Value: ms-teams.exe

With this configuration, windows 11 runs as well as windows 10, which does not have these problems with the VDA.
